Responsible for the organization, operation, and maintenance of all health and first aid needs to campers and staff. This person must be available prior to the camp season to complete a medical supply inventory and current season purchase list for the camp director. A Supervising Health officer shall ensure that all necessary supplies are stocked, shall secure all current/necessary medical authorizations from local hospitals, and provide camp staff with state mandated health training. Must be able to lead and communicate with other health staff and be knowledgeable of current State requirements.

Responsible for the safety, enforcement and State compliance of all health rules. Will dispense all medications and apply immediate First aid. Will be required to make all medical judgment calls. Responsible for the health of ALL campers. Duties include:
Care and maintenance of first aid, health kits and health/nurse’s office

• Responsible for flammable/toxic chemicals, & body fluids (use and disposal)
• Responsible for keeping a log book of medications given as they occur
• Obtain and follow standing orders
• Complete a health screening of all campers with the first 24 hours
• Generate first aid kits for all buildings, beach area, activities, hikes and field trips
• Must be readily available and accessible for all programs
• Must be on the beach at all water front activities (make sure all campers have sunscreen)
• Keep all medications locked and maintain camper health records in the health book
• Make sure directions and phone numbers to local hospitals are accessible (map)

Qualifications and Training Requirements:
19+, BSN, RN, LPN, EMT/Paramedic, or ARC Camp Health Officer Certification required

• Experience working with children preferred
• Supervisory experience preferred
• Experience working in a residential setting preferred
• Understanding of specific health needs related to camps and its unique and potential hazards is helpful
• Attend and lead Staff Orientation and Training session
• Salary commensurate with degree/certification
