Responsible for the organization and operation of the camp kitchen and all food preparations. Must adhere and enforce all safety and sanitation rules. Will maintain Dining Room (Hall) and all kitchen equipment. Must be available prior to camp for menu planing and ordering.
Basic duties include, but are not limited to the following:
- Make a camp menu that meets all nutritional standards for children
- Order food
- Direct pre-camp clean-up and set-up of kitchen
- Divide cooking and food preparation duties with Assistant Cook
- Preparing food daily to maintain freshness
- Ensure that any left-over foods are covered and/or refrigerated for next use
- Follow all safety guidelines and methods for food preparation, cooking, thawing and storing
- Follow all sanitary and anti-bacterial guidelines in the kitchen area in regard to hand washing, counter and cookware cleanliness, and head and facial hair
- Work in harmony with the Camp Director and Supervisor in planning, preparing and organizing the meal and snack program
- Work with the Assistant Cook and Cooks Helpers in maintaining the Camp Kitchen and Dining area.
Qualifications and Training Requirements:
- 21+, previous cooking experience preferred and needed
- Knowledge of current nutritional requirements
- Attend Staff Orientation and Training session before camp
